Thumb and Reflection

I wonder which was more instrumental to evolution of human intelligence: the opposing thumb or awareness of self in lake reflections?

Money

money is a catalyst to fulfilling my destiny: more catalyst does not change my destiny, although without the it life may not happen at all

Same but different

Why does asking: "are you the only child?" sound different from "do you have siblings?"... is it the difference along the lines of "regretful apology" instead of "sorry"? English is indeed the language of diplomacy....

consciously, that is having an insight into who "self" is, (often discovered through the pains of trying to be who one is not), as well as having an insight into consequences of making this choice

Intelligence: an insight, emotional or intellectual.

Know the world. Know self. Be the best of self, whatever that might be in the world around at the time, as tempting as it may be to be all else.

Past, present, future

The past is the measure. The present is a chance, occasionally a second one. The future is the hope and may be a reason to be.

I start with an assumption that I am wrong, and that gives me the freedom to think and be anyway I like: I am wrong in any case, so I might as well have no fear of making a mistake

A child, a greedy person, a blind person, a riteous person and a hungry person were to choose between a real apple and one made of gold.... Our choices certainly define us, but could these people have chosen differently and are they really free choices?
